Which Jamaica Resorts Are Open After Hurricane Melissa?

Hurricane Melissa hit Jamaica on October 28, 2025, and the island’s resorts have been coming back one by one ever since. Most are taking guests again; some are being rebuilt and won’t reopen until later this year or 2027, and a few brand-new resorts are on the way. This page shows the current status of every resort and attraction this site covers, pulled live from each guide, so it changes the moment a guide is updated.

How to read it: Open means the resort or operator is taking guests and the official sources agree. Partly open means some of it is running. Not open yet covers resorts reopening on a set date and new resorts still being built. Unconfirmed means I couldn’t confirm it’s operating from an official source, so check before you go. Each name links to its full guide, where the status is explained and sourced.

What this means for your trip

If you’re booking for the next few months, the choice is wide: most of the big all-inclusives in Negril, Montego Bay and Ocho Rios are open. The biggest gaps are on the Rose Hall strip east of Montego Bay, where the Hyatt resorts are closed until 2027, and among a handful of resorts reopening in late 2026 after major rebuilds, such as Sandals Montego Bay and Sandals Caribbean Cay.

Two things worth knowing. First, a resort can be “open” on a list and still be finishing work, so read the guide before you book; I note renovations where the resort or the press has reported them. Second, the Jamaica Tourist Board’s own list isn’t always current: in October 2026 it still showed Riu Palace Jamaica and JOIA Rose Hall as open, while the resorts themselves said they were closed for renovation. Where the operator and the list disagree, this site goes with the operator.
