  1. Best for families near the airport

    Iberostar Selection Rose Hall Suites

    Montego Bay

An all-suite family resort on the Rose Hall coast, in the Iberostar complex about 15 minutes from the airport. Every junior suite has a sofa bed, family suites have connecting rooms, and Star Camp and the Aquafun pool with water slides keep children busy. Seven restaurants, from Italian and Greek to a Caribbean grill, cover a week without repeats.

    • Good: All suites, a kids' club with water slides and a short transfer.
    • But: The spa and babysitting cost extra.
  2. Best for couples who want quiet and polish

    Excellence Oyster Bay

    Montego Bay

An adults-only (18+), all-suite resort on its own peninsula at Coopers Pen, near Falmouth in Trelawny, 30 to 35 minutes east of the airport. Every suite has a jacuzzi for two, there are nine à la carte restaurants plus a buffet and a jerk hut, and premium drinks, room service and gratuities are included.

    • Good: A jacuzzi in every suite and more à la carte dining than most.
    • But: Outside the city, and far from Montego Bay's restaurants and nightlife.
  3. Best water park for families

    Royalton Blue Waters

    Montego Bay

A mid-sized family resort of 225 suites on the coast road at Mountain Spring, Trelawny, about 35 minutes from the airport. The pirate-themed water park has slides, splash areas and a lazy river, and there’s a supervised kids’ club for ages 4 to 12 and a teen club. Nine restaurants, 24-hour room service and tips are included.

    • Good: A water park with a lazy river, and kids' and teen clubs.
    • But: Some restaurants are being renovated, and the Hideaway's areas next door are off-limits.
  4. Best adults-only resort closest to the airport

    Hotel Riu Reggae

    Montego Bay

An adults-only (18+) Riu on Mahoe Bay, 2.7 km from the airport and usually under 10 minutes away. It has three infinity pools, two with swim-up bars, and six places to eat, and guests can use Splash Water World and the weekly RIU Party at Riu Montego Bay next door.

    • Good: The shortest transfer of any big resort here, with three infinity pools.
    • But: Lively rather than romantic, and planes pass overhead.
  5. Best adults-only resort for food choice

    Royalton Hideaway Blue Waters

    Montego Bay

The adults-only half of the Blue Waters pair at Mountain Spring, Trelawny, about 35 minutes from the airport. It has four restaurants, two pools, a swim-up bar and a beach area kept for adults, plus full use of Royalton Blue Waters next door: 12 restaurants and 11 bars in all. Tips and 24-hour room service are included.

    • Good: Adults-only spaces plus the run of the family resort next door.
    • But: You'll see children at the shared restaurants and bars.
  6. Best for families with teens

    Ocean Coral Spring

    Montego Bay

A big, all-suite family resort at Coral Spring, Trelawny, about 8 km from Falmouth and 35 to 45 minutes from the airport. There’s a Teen Club for ages 13 to 17 as well as a kids’ club, a water park and a lazy river, and a bowling alley, theater and games room for rainy days. A buffet and eight other restaurants are open to all guests.

    • Good: A teen club, a bowling alley and lots of food choice.
    • But: 513 suites, so it's busy, and there's nothing to walk to outside the gate.
  7. Best for groups of friends

    Hotel Riu Montego Bay

    Montego Bay

A big, social adults-only (18+) resort on Mahoe Bay, 10 to 15 minutes from the airport. It has its own water park, Splash Water World, five pools, about 500 m of beach and the weekly RIU Party, which makes it the easy choice for a group that wants to be out by the pool all day.

    • Good: A water park, five pools and the RIU Party, close to the airport.
    • But: 826 rooms built around entertainment: not a quiet stay.
  8. Best newer resort for families

    Hotel Riu Palace Aquarelle

    Montego Bay

Riu’s newest resort in Jamaica, opened in May 2024 on White Bay beach at Coopers Pen, near Falmouth, about 35 minutes from the airport. Two-bedroom family rooms start at 58 m², so families don’t need two rooms, and there’s the RIU Land kids’ club, a children’s pool with a pirate ship and Splash Water World.

    • Good: Two-bedroom family rooms, a kids' club and a water park.
    • But: 753 rooms, and outside the city in Trelawny.
  9. Best for big mixed groups

Grand Palladium Jamaica Resort & Spa

    Montego Bay

A big, lively family resort at Point Lucea in Hanover, about 40 minutes (32 km) west of the airport. Guests share ten restaurants and 21 bars with the all-suite Lady Hamilton next door, and there are kids’ and teens’ clubs, a children’s water park and adults-only private-pool suites, so grandparents, couples and children can all find their corner.

    • Good: Ten restaurants, 21 bars and something for every age.
    • But: Out of town, and the airport shuttle usually costs extra.
  10. Best for staying in town

    Deja Resort

    Montego Bay

A small, Jamaican-owned all-inclusive of just over 90 rooms in the middle of the Hip Strip, about 5 minutes from the airport. There’s no private beach, but Doctor’s Cave Beach is about a minute’s walk away, and the Strip’s bars and restaurants are on foot. Jamaican food at the Waterfalls Restaurant and a street party on Tuesday nights give it local flavor.

    • Good: Doctor's Cave Beach and the Hip Strip on your doorstep.
    • But: Few restaurants, no private beach and a noisy street at night.

Where these resorts are

“Montego Bay” on a booking site covers a long stretch of coast. The Hip Strip and Mahoe Bay are 5 to 15 minutes from Sangster International Airport, and the Rose Hall resorts about 15. For the Trelawny and Hanover resorts further out, and which area suits your trip, see where to stay in Montego Bay.

Also open and worth a look: Iberostar Waves Rose Hall Beach, the family resort in the same complex as Rose Hall Suites; Ocean Eden Bay, the adults-only half of the Coral Spring pair; and Grand Palladium Lady Hamilton, the all-suite half of the Point Lucea complex. Princess Grand Jamaica and Princess Senses The Mangrove at Green Island are about 55 km from the airport and closer to Negril than to Montego Bay.

Not open yet

Hurricane Melissa closed much of the Montego Bay coast in October 2025, and several big names are still on their way back. JOIA Rose Hall reopens Dec 1, 2026 after a renovation, Riu Palace Jamaica on Dec 12, and Sandals Montego Bay and Sandals Caribbean Cay on Dec 18. Muthu Diamond Lagoon, the former Grand Decameron Montego Beach, is slated to reopen in December 2026. UNICO 18°77° Montego Bay is taking bookings from Mar 1, 2027. Hyatt Ziva and Hyatt Zilara Rose Hall, Secrets Montego Bay, Dreams Rose Hall, Breathless Montego Bay and Jewel Grande Montego Bay are listed as reopening in 2027, with no dates announced. Coyaba Beach Resort, the former Zoëtry Montego Bay, is open on a bed-and-breakfast basis, with an all-inclusive option planned for around November or December. I’ll add resorts to this list once they’re taking guests again.

How I choose

Every resort here has a full guide on this site, researched from the resort’s own information and official sources and dated on the page. I only list resorts that are open: after Hurricane Melissa, resorts that are closed or reopening later are left off until they’re taking guests again. I’ve included the Trelawny resorts near Falmouth and the Grand Palladium complex in Hanover because most people fly into Montego Bay to reach them, and each pick says how far it is from the airport. Picks are based on who each resort suits, where it is and what’s included, plus local knowledge. No resort pays to be listed, and I don’t claim stays I haven’t had.

Questions people ask

Which Montego Bay all-inclusive is closest to the airport?

Deja Resort on the Hip Strip is about 5 minutes from Sangster International. Riu Reggae and Riu Montego Bay on Mahoe Bay are 2.7 km away, usually 10 to 15 minutes, and the Iberostar resorts at Rose Hall about 15.

What is the best all-inclusive in Montego Bay for families?

Iberostar Selection Rose Hall Suites if you want a suite and a short transfer. For a water park, Royalton Blue Waters or Riu Palace Aquarelle near Falmouth, about 35 minutes away. With teenagers, Ocean Coral Spring has a teen club and a bowling alley.

Which Montego Bay all-inclusives are adults only?

On this list: Excellence Oyster Bay, Royalton Hideaway Blue Waters, Riu Reggae and Riu Montego Bay, all 18 and over. Ocean Eden Bay at Coral Spring is adults only too. JOIA Rose Hall, Riu Palace Jamaica, the two Sandals resorts and UNICO are adults only but not open yet.
