Best overall for families
Beaches Negril
Something for every age on the widest stretch of Seven Mile Beach. The Pirate Island water park, with slides, a lazy river and kids’ pools, sits on the sand and opens 10 am to 6 pm daily. Kids Camp has certified nannies and Sesame Street characters for little ones and activities for teens, and Beaches has the Caribbean’s first certified autism centers.
- Good: A water park on the beach and nannies in the kids' club.
- But: About 75 km from Montego Bay airport, so a longer transfer.

Best for babies and toddlers
Franklyn D. Resort
The nanny is the point: every family gets its own vacation nanny, included, from 8:30 am to 4:40 pm daily. The Yellow Bird Kids Club takes ages 2 to 11 from 7 am to 10 pm, there’s toddler water play, a 100-ft water slide and a private kids’ beach, and suites have 1 to 4 bedrooms, so children can have their own room.
- Good: A daily nanny, plus a kids' club open until 10 pm.
- But: Small, with 4 restaurants; nanny hours end at 4:40 pm.

Best in Ocho Rios town
Moon Palace Jamaica
For families who want a lot going on: the FlowRider Double surf simulator has two lanes, the Playroom kids’ club takes ages 4 to 12 and teens get the Wired Lounge. The Superior Family Deluxe is two connecting rooms (646 sq ft) with a king and two double beds, and room service runs 24 hours, which helps with small children’s hours.
- Good: In town, with a FlowRider and kids' and teen clubs.
- But: More than 700 rooms: busy rather than intimate.

Best all-suite resort near Montego Bay
Iberostar Selection Rose Hall Suites
Built for space: every room is a 570 sq ft suite with a sofa bed, and the 1,140 sq ft family suites have connecting rooms and extras for children such as a games console. Star Camp is the kids’ club, and the Aquafun children’s pool and playground has water slides.
- Good: Roomy suites with sofa beds, and connecting family suites.
- But: The spa and babysitting cost extra.

Best water park with a short transfer
Royalton Blue Waters
A mid-sized family resort of 225 suites on the coast between Montego Bay and Falmouth, about 35 minutes from the airport. The pirate-themed water park has slides, splash areas and a lazy river, and there’s a supervised kids’ club for ages 4 to 12, a teen club and nine restaurants.
- Good: A water park, kids' and teen clubs and big family suites.
- But: Some restaurants are being renovated, and the adults-only Hideaway next door is off-limits.

Best new-build family resort
Princess Grand Jamaica
Opened in 2024 on the beach at Green Island, between Negril and Montego Bay, with 590 suites. The Wild Princess water park has four slides, there’s a kids’ club for ages 3 to 12 and a games area for teens, and family junior suites come with bunk beds.
- Good: Four water slides and family suites with bunk beds.
- But: No connecting rooms, and a drive to Negril or Montego Bay for a night out.

Best for things to do on site
Ocean Coral Spring
An all-suite resort of 513 suites on the beach at Coral Spring, near Falmouth, 35 to 45 minutes from Montego Bay airport. There’s a water park and a lazy river, a Daisy Club for ages 4 to 12 and a Teen Club for 13 to 17, a bowling alley and theater for rainy days, and a buffet plus eight restaurants and grills.
- Good: A water park, a separate teen club and a bowling alley.
- But: Busy: guests of Ocean Eden Bay next door use its facilities too.

Hotel Riu Ocho Rios
A big, busy family resort on Mammee Bay, west of Ocho Rios, with Splash Water World, separate kids’ and teen clubs and six places to eat, all inside the gate.
- Good: A water park, kids' and teen clubs and evening shows.
- But: Splash Water World recommends a minimum age of 12.

Grand Palladium Jamaica Resort & Spa
A big, lively family resort at Point Lucea, about 40 minutes west of Montego Bay airport. Guests share ten restaurants and 21 bars with sister hotel Lady Hamilton, and there’s a children’s water park and adults-only private-pool suites.
- Good: Ten restaurants, 21 bars and a kids' water park.
- But: Out of town, and the airport shuttle usually costs extra.

Best mid-sized resort on Seven Mile Beach
Azul Beach Resort Negril
283 suites right on Seven Mile Beach in Negril, with family suites, family loft suites and two-bedroom suites that sleep up to six. Children have the Azulitos Playhouse for ages 4 to 12 and a splash park, and taxes, gratuities and 24-hour room service are included.
- Good: Family suites for up to six, steps from the sand.
- But: No water park, and the pool and swim-up bars are adults-only.
Three more open family resorts are worth a look if none of these fits: Royalton Negril on Seven Mile Beach has kids’ and teen clubs, Hotel Riu Palace Aquarelle near Falmouth has Splash Water World and two-bedroom family rooms, and Iberostar Waves Rose Hall Beach is 15 minutes from Montego Bay airport.
Not open yet: Bahia Principe Explore Jamaica in Runaway Bay, a family resort with a children’s water park, reopens on December 1, 2026. Hyatt Ziva Rose Hall and Dreams Rose Hall are due back in 2027 with no firm date, and Beaches Runaway Bay, the old Jewel Runaway Bay, hasn’t announced an opening date.
