  1. Best for a quiet, private honeymoon

    Sandals Royal Plantation

    Ocho Rios

The small, quiet Sandals: every room is a butler suite on a coral bluff over its own cove beach, with afternoon tea in the garden. When you want more choice, free transport takes you to Sandals Ochi’s restaurants and bars.

    • Good: Butler service in every suite.
    • But: Quiet evenings by design; nightlife is a shuttle away.
  2. Best for lots included

    Couples Sans Souci

    Ocho Rios

A couples-only, all-suite resort stepped down the cliffs east of Ocho Rios, with a mineral spring pool and grotto and a Piano Bar for the evenings. Excursions, golf and scuba diving are included rather than charged as extras, which suits couples who want to do things together.

    • Good: Excursions, golf and diving included.
    • But: Part of the beach is clothing-optional (private and separate).
  3. Best on Seven Mile Beach

    Sandals Negril

    Negril

A couples-only Sandals on the widest stretch of Seven Mile Beach, facing west for the Negril sunsets. Rooms run up to swim-up, two-story and SkyPool Butler Suites, and water skiing, wakeboarding and Hobie Cats are in the price, along with tips and airport transfers.

    • Good: Sunsets on the sand, with water sports included.
    • But: Eight restaurants, and about 75 minutes from Montego Bay airport.
  4. Best for a jacuzzi suite

    Excellence Oyster Bay

    Montego Bay

An adults-only, all-suite resort on a quiet peninsula near Falmouth, with a jacuzzi for two in every suite and private pools for ground-floor suites. Nine à la carte restaurants, premium drinks and 24-hour room service are included.

    • Good: A jacuzzi for two in every suite.
    • But: The spa isn't part of the all-inclusive plan.
  5. Best for an overwater villa

    Princess Senses The Mangrove

    Negril

Jamaica’s overwater villas: 14 of them at this adults-only resort at Green Island, Hanover, each with a private infinity pool, a partial glass floor and a 24-hour butler, and Princess includes airport transfers for villa guests. The rest of the resort is big and lively, with a rooftop pool and a nightclub.

    • Good: A private pool over the sea, with a butler.
    • But: It shares the site with a family resort, and Green Island is a drive from Negril.
  6. Best for sunsets on the cliffs

    The Cliff Hotel

    Negril

An upmarket boutique hotel on Negril’s West End cliffs, built for sunsets, with oceanfront rooms and suites and the KiYara Spa. It’s not all-inclusive, which suits couples who want to eat around Negril.

    • Good: Private, quiet and right on the cliffs.
    • But: No sandy beach, and meals and drinks are extra.
  7. Best old-school romance

    Jamaica Inn

    Ocho Rios

A family-run Ocho Rios hotel on a private crescent beach, with no TVs in the rooms, a five-course dinner with live music every night and cottages with their own infinity plunge pools. Continental breakfast, afternoon tea and evening hors d’oeuvres come with every stay.

    • Good: A private beach and evenings that feel like an occasion.
    • But: Lunch, dinner and drinks cost extra unless you add a meal plan, and men need long trousers after 7 pm.
  8. Best for a plunge-pool suite near Montego Bay

    Round Hill Hotel & Villas

    Montego Bay

Montego Bay’s old-money resort on a private, gated peninsula 25 minutes from the airport, with Ralph Lauren-designed rooms, one-bedroom hillside suites with their own plunge pools and a spa in a restored plantation house. You choose a meal plan, including an inclusive one.

    • Good: Private plunge pools and a calm private beach.
    • But: Families are welcome, with kids' clubs, and food and drink cost extra without a meal plan.

The first choice is all-inclusive or not. The Sandals, Couples, Excellence and Princess picks below include your food and drinks; Jamaica Inn, Round Hill and The Cliff Hotel are classic hotels where you choose a meal plan or eat out, which suits couples who want to try restaurants around the island. Then pick your coast: Ocho Rios for the couples resorts and the waterfalls, Negril for Seven Mile Beach and cliff-top sunsets, and the Montego Bay side for the shortest airport transfer. Not open yet

Two Sandals with overwater rooms are coming back but aren’t taking guests yet: Sandals South Coast, home of the Sandals overwater bungalows, reopens Nov 18, 2026, and Sandals Caribbean Cay (formerly Sandals Royal Caribbean), with its own offshore island, reopens Dec 18. Hyatt Zilara Rose Hall is due back in 2027 with no date announced.

How I choose

Every resort here has a full guide on this site, researched from the resort’s own information and official sources and dated on the page. I only list places that are open: anything closed, reopening later or unconfirmed is left off until it’s taking guests again. I looked for what a honeymoon needs: privacy, a room worth spending time in, good food and a setting you’ll remember, across both all-inclusives and classic hotels. No resort pays to be listed, and I don’t claim stays I haven’t had.

Questions people ask

What is the best honeymoon resort in Jamaica?

For a quiet, private honeymoon, Sandals Royal Plantation, where every room is a butler suite. For lots included, Couples Sans Souci. For an overwater villa, Princess Senses The Mangrove, and for sunsets and eating out, The Cliff Hotel in Negril.

Is Negril or Ocho Rios better for a honeymoon?

Negril has Seven Mile Beach and cliff-top sunsets but a longer airport transfer, about 75 to 90 minutes from Montego Bay. Ocho Rios has the classic couples resorts and Jamaica Inn, with waterfalls and day trips close by.

Are there overwater villas in Jamaica?

Yes. Princess Senses The Mangrove at Green Island has 14 overwater villas with private infinity pools, and it’s open. Sandals South Coast and Sandals Caribbean Cay, which also have overwater rooms, reopen in November and December 2026.

Can we get married at a Jamaica honeymoon resort?

Usually, yes. The government’s guidance for visitors says most hotels in Jamaica have wedding coordinators and many offer packages, but what’s included and what it costs varies a lot, so ask for the list in writing. You can marry 24 hours after you arrive if the licence was applied for beforehand; our getting married in Jamaica guide has the requirements.
