My local take
Azul sits right on Seven Mile Beach, on the strip of Norman Manley Boulevard where most of Negril’s big all-inclusives are. With 283 suites it’s mid-sized by Jamaican all-inclusive standards: big enough for seven pools, five restaurants and a kids’ playhouse, small enough that it isn’t a city. Karisma pitches it at couples and families alike. My take: it suits families with children under 12 who want the beach and a pool day without a full water park, and couples who like having adults-only swim-up bars and a late-night rum lounge to themselves.
The adults-only corners are worth knowing about before you book. All four pool and swim-up bars are listed as 18+, and so is the Nesta Rasta Lounge at night. That’s good news for couples, and something to plan around if you’re traveling with children. The Azulitos Playhouse takes ages 4 to 12 and closes from noon to 2 pm, and the splash park needs a parent with the children at all times.
If it’s not quite right, look at Beaches Negril, a bigger family all-inclusive further along Seven Mile Beach, or Royalton Negril for another family-friendly option with more restaurants. More options: the best all-inclusive family resorts in Jamaica.

What stands out
- Right on Seven Mile Beach, with sand a few steps from every part of the resort.
- Swim-up rooms and suites step straight into a lazy river that runs in front of them.
- Family suites, family loft suites and two-bedroom suites sleep up to six, so bigger families don't need two rooms.
- Ackee, the Jamaican restaurant, is run by an all-Jamaican kitchen team.
- Taxes, gratuities, Wi-Fi and 24-hour room service are included.
- At 283 suites it's a manageable size, with adults-only bars for couples.
What to know before booking
- No water park, only a children's splash park, and the playhouse closes from noon to 2 pm.
- All the pool and swim-up bars are adults-only (18+), which is awkward with children in the pool.
- Seating at the à la carte restaurants is by availability, and Hua Hin and Di Romagna recommend reservations.
- The tennis court is across Norman Manley Boulevard, not inside the beachfront grounds.
- Negril is the far end of the island from Montego Bay airport, so transfers take longer than for Montego Bay resorts.

Rooms
Karisma lists 12 room types. Deluxe and ocean-view deluxe rooms (398 ft²) have a king bed for two adults. Deluxe swim-up rooms (403 ft²) and premium swim-up suites (428 ft²) open onto the lazy river. Families should look at the family suite (484 ft², a king bedroom plus a living room with a sofa bed for two children), the family loft suite (683 ft²) or the two-bedroom suite (818 ft², up to six guests). Premium ocean-view suites (608 ft²) take two adults and two children. For couples, the beachfront honeymoon suites are the largest at 796 ft², one with a swim-up terrace. Every room has a minibar restocked daily and 24-hour room service; Karisma notes restrictions on room service when it rains.
Food & drink
Karisma lists five restaurants and two gourmet corners. Palms is the world-cuisine breakfast room with a cooking station, Mahogany is the open-kitchen restaurant for breakfast, lunch and dinner with themed nights, and Ackee, Di Romagna (Italian) and Hua Hin (Asian) are dinner restaurants. West End Gourmet Corner does salads, paninis and wraps on the oceanfront terrace in the afternoon, and Beans Coffee Shop in the lobby runs from 7 am to 11 pm. Dinner has a resort-casual dress code: long pants or dressy shorts and collared shirts for men, no sleeveless shirts or caps. My take: book Ackee early in your stay. A resort that hands its Jamaican restaurant to an all-Jamaican team is taking the food seriously.
Pool & beach
The resort is all beachfront on Seven Mile Beach, with kayaks, Hobie Cats, canoes, beach volleyball and yoga included. Karisma lists seven pools, including the lazy river that runs in front of the swim-up rooms. The four pool and swim-up bars (Poinsettia, Tamarind, West End and Hibiscus) are adults-only and open 10 am to 5 pm. Children have a splash park, open 9 am to 5 pm with parents supervising, and the Azulitos Playhouse for ages 4 to 12.
Location
Azul is on Norman Manley Boulevard, the beach side of Seven Mile Beach, with bars and restaurants along the road in both directions. Sangster International in Montego Bay is the nearest international airport, and the drive west along the coast road takes longer than most first-timers expect, so book your transfer before you fly. From here, Rick’s Café on the West End cliffs is the classic sunset stop, and YS Falls makes a good day trip into St Elizabeth. Locals will tell you to walk the beach at least once: Seven Mile Beach is public, and the walk is the best way to see it. See where to stay in Negril for the wider area.
