My local take

Here is exactly what has been said about the reopening, and by whom. The Jamaica Tourist Board lists it as “Reopening 2027” with no date. In April 2026 Hyatt told travel partners its seven Jamaica resorts would reopen in early 2027, with a date for each to come later, the Gleaner reported on April 10, 2026. At JAPEX in September, Melissa Forbes, Hyatt’s director of sales and marketing for Hyatt Ziva and Zilara Rose Hall, told the Gleaner that the resorts will return in phases during the first half of 2027, later than the March 2027 target they had been working to. Travel Market Report’s JAPEX report, published a few days later, said instead that the Hyatt openings had moved from the first quarter to the second half of 2027. The tour operator Vacation Express is selling Hyatt Ziva for arrivals from July 1, 2027.

Hyatt Ziva has been closed since Hurricane Melissa hit on October 28, 2025. It is the family side of the Hyatt resort on the Rose Hall coast, next to the adults-only Hyatt Zilara Rose Hall, which is also closed. Hyatt’s team says the rooms, restaurants and public spaces are being reworked rather than just repaired. My take: until Hyatt publishes a firm date and the new room and restaurant details, don’t plan a family trip around it. I’ll update this page when it does.

For a family all-inclusive that’s open now, Iberostar Waves Rose Hall Beach is a few minutes along the same coast, and Hotel Riu Palace Aquarelle near Falmouth has a water park and two-bedroom family rooms. More options: the best all-inclusive family resorts in Jamaica.
