Top 7 Things You Should Look for When Booking a Resort

There are so many varieties of hotels and resorts available that it can often be difficult to decide where to stay. The easiest way to work it out is to decide what amenities are important to you and your family.

Apart from choosing a family hotel or hotels for singles, here’s a list of essential amenities that you can consider before making your decision.

En-suite Bathrooms

Many hotels have suites where two or more rooms share one bathroom facility. Booking a hotel where each room has its own en-suite bathroom will give you the privacy you want and convenience.

If you are planning on doing activities that involve any amount of physical exertion, not having to share a bathroom with your whole family will go a long way in making your holiday more pleasant.

In-room Amenities

Wi-Fi, minibar, an iron, hairdryer, and coffee making facilities are a must, especially the Wi-Fi. It is important to be able to be comfortable in your room and having contact with your friends and family back home, especially if there is an emergency, is not negotiable.

Most hotels in this modern day include Wi-Fi in-room; however, make sure that you ask the concierge or reception desk before you book. Some resorts here tend to charge additional for wifi which I don’t like.

Swimming Pool

Turndown Service

Turndown service takes off the often heavy bedspread and stores it neatly, gives you fresh towels if needed, replenish the soaps and shampoos, provides coffee and tea and restocks the minibar if necessary, and just makes the bed look more inviting for bedtime. You’ll love coming back from dinner to a room ready for you. There’s always an extra special feeling when you find chocolate on your pillow.

Room Service

Having the ability to have breakfast in bed, or dinner and a movie is high on many people’s lists. Ensuring your hotel has room service means that you can enjoy great food without having to leave your room.

Even for the smaller things such as coffee or a cold drink can be brought to your room at your convenience.

Activities

Although most people go on holiday assuming they will just lie in the sun and relax, a week long holiday can become boring if there aren’t any fun activities or excursions.

If you have brought your children with you, this is even more important. Making sure that there are different types of activities available, such as water sports, tours, and hikes, will go a long way to making your holiday memorable.

Location

This may seem like the most obvious one, but many people book their hotel based on price or other amenities, but the location will be the difference between a mediocre trip and a spectacular one.

Make sure that you are positioned near to all of the sights you would like to see, or the amenities you may want to frequent, such as beaches. Be sure to check how close your hotel is to the local airport – you want to be close enough that it isn’t a long drive to get there, but not so close that you have the noise of airplanes flying overhead every fifteen minutes.

Other things to consider:

  • Shuttle services
  • Concierge
  • Babysitting
  • Safety

There are so many hotels and resorts available that you have to be careful to ensure that all of your needs and requirements are being met. For more information be sure to check out the various resort inclusive packages available from different hotels.

There are a few things that can be considered negotiable, but make a list of what is a must in a hotel room for you, and ensure that you get everything you want in a hotel before you book.
