Moon Palace Jamaica
The big, polished family resort right on Main Street, so the shops and day trips are close. There’s a FlowRider surf simulator, a kids’ club for ages 4 to 12, a teen lounge, 24-hour room service and family rooms made of two connecting rooms.
- Good: In town, with a FlowRider and kids' and teen clubs.
- But: More than 700 rooms: busy rather than intimate.

Best water park for older kids
Hotel Riu Ocho Rios
A big, busy family resort on Mammee Bay with Splash Water World free for guests, the RIU Land kids’ club and RIU 4U teen club, and six places to eat, including a jerk station. Two-bedroom family rooms of 60 m² keep bigger families together.
- Good: A water park, kids' and teen clubs and evening shows, all inside the gate.
- But: Splash Water World recommends a minimum age of 12.

Best for babies and toddlers
Franklyn D. Resort
A small, Jamaican-owned family resort in Runaway Bay with 56 suites and your own vacation nanny every day, included in the rate. Suites have 1 to 4 bedrooms, the Yellow Bird Kids Club takes ages 2 to 11, and there’s a 100-ft water slide and a toddler water-play area.
- Good: A daily nanny is included, and so are transfers from Montego Bay.
- But: Small, with 4 restaurants; nanny hours end at 4:40 pm.

Sandals Ochi
Two resorts in one: a lively beach club by the sea and quieter Butler Villas up the hill, with 16 restaurants and 11 bars between them. Green fees at Upton Estate and scuba for certified divers are included.
- Good: The most restaurants of any resort on this list.
- But: Spread over 100 acres, so you'll use shuttles.

Sandals Royal Plantation
The small, quiet Sandals: every room is a Butler Suite on a coral bluff with its own cove beach, and there’s afternoon tea and Jamaica’s only Champagne and caviar bar. When you want more choice, free transport takes you to Sandals Ochi’s restaurants and bars.
- Good: Butler service in every suite, and genuinely quiet.
- But: Only 2 pools and a small beach; evenings are quiet by design.

Best romantic resort on the cliffs
Couples Sans Souci
A couples-only resort of 150 suites built down the cliffs east of town, with a mineral spring pool and grotto. Excursions, golf and scuba diving are included rather than charged as extras, and there are six restaurants and six bars.
- Good: More included than most: excursions, golf and diving.
- But: Built down a cliff, so expect steps; part of the beach is clothing-optional.

Best for couples flying into Ocho Rios
Couples Tower Isle
The Couples flagship at Tower Isle, about 15 minutes from Ian Fleming airport, with transfers included from there and from Montego Bay. There’s a beach, a private island offshore, seven restaurants, four pools, and golf and scuba in the price, with no tipping.
- Good: Close to Ian Fleming airport, with golf, scuba and water sports included.
- But: About 1 hour 45 minutes from Montego Bay airport, and the offshore island is clothing-optional.

Best relaxed adults-only resort
Bahia Principe Escape Runaway Bay
A calm, adults-only resort (18+) in Runaway Bay where every room is a junior suite for up to 3 adults, so it works for friends as well as couples. Dinners at the à la carte restaurants are unlimited, there are three pools, a spa and a gym, and it’s quieter and simpler than the big Ocho Rios names.
- Good: Adults only, all junior suites, unlimited à la carte dinners.
- But: Runaway Bay is quiet at night, and dinners need a reservation and a dress code.

Moon Palace and the two Sandals picks are on Main Street in Ocho Rios, Hotel Riu Ocho Rios is on Mammee Bay just west of town, Franklyn D. Also worth knowing
Sandals Dunn’s River, renovated and reopened by Sandals in 2023, has 12 restaurants of its own plus full use of Sandals Ochi, and is a strong choice for couples who want a newer, compact resort. Jamaica Inn isn’t an all-inclusive by default, but it offers an all-inclusive meal plan, takes children 10 and over, and has a private beach of about 700 feet.
Not open yet
Several Runaway Bay resorts are on their way back but not taking guests yet. Bahia Principe Explore Jamaica, the family resort next to Bahia Principe Escape, reopens on December 1, 2026. Royalton CHIC Jamaica is due to open in summer 2027. Beaches Runaway Bay (the former Jewel Runaway Bay) has no opening date yet, Grand Muthu Runaway Bay is listed among resorts scheduled to reopen in the first quarter of 2027, and Club Ambiance has new owners planning to reopen it as an adults-only all-inclusive, with no date announced. Beaches Ocho Rios at Boscobel closed on May 31, 2025. I’ll consider each one once it’s open.

I looked at every open all-inclusive in Ocho Rios and Runaway Bay with a full guide on this site, each researched from the resort’s own information and official sources and dated on the page. I only list resorts that are taking guests: the Runaway Bay resorts still closed after Hurricane Melissa are named at the end, and will be considered once they reopen. Picks are based on who each resort suits, where it is and what’s included, plus local knowledge of the area. No resort pays to be listed, and I don’t claim stays I haven’t had.

Which Ocho Rios all-inclusive is closest to Dunn's River Falls?
Hotel Riu Ocho Rios, on Mammee Bay, a few minutes east along the coast road. Sandals Dunn’s River is on Mammee Bay too; despite the name, it isn’t at the falls. From the Main Street resorts and the Couples resorts east of town you drive through Ocho Rios, so allow extra time for traffic, and go early, before the cruise-ship crowds.
Which airport is closest to Ocho Rios?
Ian Fleming International (OCJ) is about 15 to 30 minutes from most Ocho Rios resorts, but mainly handles private and charter flights. Most visitors fly into Montego Bay, about 90 minutes away by road.
