My local take

UNICO 18°77° is a brand-new resort, not a reopening. It’s the first Jamaican resort from UNICO Hotel Collection, the adults-only brand behind UNICO 20°87° in Riviera Maya. UNICO says it has 451 oceanfront rooms, suites and a villa on the Rose Hall Main Road, and it’s taking bookings for stays from March 1, 2027. The Jamaica Tourist Board lists it as opening in March 2027, and the Jamaica Information Service includes it among the properties due in the first quarter of 2027.

My take: the room list reads well for couples, with private swim-up pools and outdoor spa tubs in many rooms, but nobody has stayed here yet. UNICO hasn’t published its restaurant list or its pool layout, so I’d hold off on judging the food until it does. If you book for March, know that new resorts often take a few months to settle, and check the cancellation terms before you pay. I’ll write a full guide once it opens.

UNICO lists 451 oceanfront rooms, suites and a villa. The Alcoba rooms (629 sq ft) come with a king or two queens and either a private swim-up pool or an oceanfront terrace with a spa tub. Alto Panoramica Oceanfront rooms add a living area. The Estancia suites (1,259 sq ft) come in one- and two-bedroom versions, some with a kitchen and a swim-up pool. UNICO’s listed in-room amenities include 24-hour room service, a minibar, a coffee pod machine and free high-speed Wi-Fi.

Food & drink

UNICO describes a mix of fine dining and casual beachfront food built on local ingredients, two lounges, a café, 24-hour in-room dining ordered through its app, and food-and-drink experiences such as rum tastings and Jamaican cooking classes. It hasn’t named the restaurants yet. I’ll add them when it does.

Pool & beach

UNICO says its pools have loungers and private cabanas with full food and drink service, and many rooms have private swim-up pools. It hasn’t published how many pools there are or what the beach is like yet.
