Konoko Falls
Just a 5 minute drive out of Ocho Rios, in the parish of St. Ann, you will find the spectacular Konoko Falls and Park. Featuring beautiful cascading waterfalls and refreshing swimming pools, this is the perfect place to climb to the waterfall and enjoy the panoramic views of Ocho Rios.
After arriving at the falls, you will understand why St. Ann is regarded as the garden parish – plenty of lush green trees, plants and flowers will leave you feeling fresh and relaxed. Although it is quite popular with tourists, the areas are spacious enough that you never feel overcrowded.
Reggae Falls
One of Jamaica’s best-kept secrets is concealed in the parish of St. Thomas. Reggae Falls was an old water Dam, but now features a 30-foot high cascading waterfall, that meets with the Johnson River.
The Falls features an area where warm water containing sulfur springs from a rock and is believed to contain healing properties. There is also a 10-foot high rock where you can jump into the pool at the bottom of the falls. Due to its location, and the need to use a 4-wheel-drive vehicle, Reggae Falls remains a hidden gem and the perfect place to enjoy some natural relaxation.
Reach Falls
Located a short 45-minute drive from Port Antonio, you will arrive at the Montane Forrest, home to the gorgeous Reach Falls. Driver’s River pushes the water over the rocks into the spectacular heart shaped pool, where you can enjoy a natural massage thanks to the current of the river.
Reach Falls is popular with tourists because of the incredible beauty of this waterfall, the picnic areas, and the guided tour up the river, where you can see over 23 species of ferns, a wide variety of exotic birds, and possibly even a wild pig.
Tacky Falls
Tacky Falls, located in the parish of Saint Mary, is considered one of the most natural waterfalls on the island, being that it has not been commercialized.
Getting to the falls involves a 15-minute hike on a steep and narrow trail through the jungle, and there are no signs or proper pathways to follow. But once you arrive at the amazing 200-foot high waterfall, you will see why the hike was worthwhile. Fresh water cascades down the rocks while you enjoy the natural wonder in peace and quiet, and it is highly unlikely that you will encounter any tourist crowds at this hidden gem.
Turtle River Falls
Featuring 14 different stunning cascading waterfalls located on a 15-acre tropical garden, Turtle River Falls and Gardens is one of Ocho Rios’s natural gems. Surrounded by gorgeous scenery, including colorful exotic birds and local plants, you can enjoy swimming in the natural pools that have formed at the base of the waterfalls or climb the falls if you are feeling more adventurous. You can also take a walk through the beautiful botanical gardens and check out the serene Japanese Koi pond.
There are so many beautiful waterfalls to explore in Jamaica, but these are some of the most amazing waterfalls that you can enjoy in peace and tranquility while taking in the spectacular natural wonders.
