The reason this beach is so distinctive and unique is that it is the point where the spectacular river meets the ocean, a true sight to behold. It is a favorite for people to photograph, with picturesque soft, sandy, white beaches and shimmering, crystal clear water, and you can enjoy time swimming in the ocean or wallowing in the calm, slow-moving river.

Be aware that the ocean can get a bit choppy, so if you have small children with you, keep an eye on them. The beach is dotted with chairs that you can rent for $3, but if you have brought a towel or blanket with you, there is no need.

There are plenty of trees along the beach that provide you with shade.

As you sunbathe on the beach, you get beautiful views of the surrounding cliffs, the isolated tropical forest, and the rustic villas. If you are staying in one of the villas, you can enjoy the brilliant views of the ocean, beach and river.

After a warm day spent on the soft sand at the beach, you can head over to the pure refreshing water in the river to rinse off. If you brought along a pair of goggles and a snorkel, you can enjoy swimming with the small fish as you cool off, surrounded by the secluded Jamaican jungle. You can also have a try on the famous river swings, where kids and adults alike can skim above the water.

There is a wide variety of food and drinks available at the beach bar, including burgers, fries, fresh steamed fish, and Jamaican jerk chicken. The food is served at a reasonable price, the service is friendly and warm, and the Red Stripe is served chilled – perfect for a hot day at the beach.

The beach is kept in pristine condition, with well-trained, friendly, professional staff members providing a great service to ensure that Frenchman’s Cove remains one of the most sophisticated, private beaches in Jamaica. It is popular among celebrities for this reason.

Entrance to the beach is $10 for adults, and $5 for children aged between 4 and 12. Kids under 4 get in free.  If you’re a local then you can expect to pay JA $800 for adults and JA $400 for kids.
