The island of Jamaica is a tropical paradise for anyone looking to escape the “routine” of everyday life. It’s filled with good food, fun, and endless adventures. While you may be tempted to leave the kids and break away for a solo trip, I encourage you to take them along!

There’s a ton of children-friendly activities for them to enjoy. So rather than being envied when you return, pack their little suitcases and bring them with you!

Here’s a list of some of the best attractions in Jamaica for children to see and enjoy:

Interact, Swim and Play with Dolphins!

You can’t be accompanied by your children and not take them to see this famous spot in Ocho Rios. Your kids will get the unique opportunity to pet, play and swim with these beautiful creatures. If they’re old enough, they’ll also get the chance to swim with them.

How cool is that?

Dolphin Cove is opened daily and has a host of activities throughout the day. Nature walks, jungle trails, and shark shows are some of the other things you can enjoy. Check out this review I wrote for more information.

Splash Around at the Water Park

There are a few water parks here in Jamaica. Perhaps the most famous (or at least for me) is Kool Runnings in Negril. Cruise the twists and turns of the slow-moving leisure river or go straight to the exciting water slides.

You’ll find about seven different slide options all with a different “thrill rating.” And with names like “Lightning Bolt” and “Duppy Conqueror,” you can pretty much tell you’re in for an adventure.

Get Dirty Shooting Paintballs

Hey let’s face it, kids love getting dirty! If you chance upon St. Thomas during your travels, you’ll want to check out the Sunshine Coast Adventure Park. Here you’ll both get the opportunity to form teams and strategize plans to defeat your opponent.

But they’re not just about paintball shooting; there are other activities such as hiking trails, mini golf, soccer, sea-saws and much more. Fun! Fun! Fun!

Dunn’s River Falls

If you’ve been to the island before, chances are you explored Dunn’s River Falls. It’s a unique free-falling waterfall that tourists love to climb. Experienced fall guides help you navigate the sometimes tricky climb while at the same time ensuring it’s an adventure you record in your memories.

Kids will also love this because they enjoy little challenges (especially if mom and dad accompany them). But if it’s too much or scary for the young ones, there’s a relaxing beach to enjoy.

Be sure that before you confirm the trip to the island you check out my Jamaican list of vacation items to bring.

Hope Botanical Gardens and Zoo

Hope Gardens may be a few hours drive outside of the most popular tourist hot spots (you’ll find it in the capital city Kingston). However, it’s the perfect place to unwind and have a fun time with the entire family.

Here you’ll be surrounded by 200-acres of park and gardens with lush tropical flowers to admire. Be sure to bring a blanket so that you can relax in the picnic areas found all around you.

Adjoined to this is also a beautiful Zoo. Say hi to the majestic lion, admire the stunning peacocks and listen to the sweet sounds of the resident birds – your child will love you for taking him/her here!

Giddy-Up – It’s Horseback Riding Time

One of the top things kids enjoy is horseback riding. There are various attractions scattered across the island that provides tours for this. One such place is Braco Stables located in Falmouth, Trelawny.

Enjoy the scenic views and tours. Your guide may also have you ride through the water in an exciting “Ride N Swim” tour. Put this on your bucket list.

Explore Our Marine Life

The Black River Safari located in St. Elizabeth is perhaps the best place to get up close and personal with nature. There are over 100 species of birds here that you can admire. The main draw, however, is the crocodiles which call this paradise.

Tours take you three miles up the river and back and are quite relaxing. As one of the island’s best natural resources, yourself and your kids will enjoy all, it has to offer.

The unspoiled beauty of Jamaica is something for everyone both kids and adults to enjoy. The next time you’re planning a vacation here be sure to keep all these places in mind.

After all, holidays are all about de-stressing, relaxing and making new memories. We can confidently say that you’ll find that here once you book a trip.
