Montego Bay has long been one of the best tourist hot spots on the island. It’s the second city – home to an international airport, beautiful beaches, fabulous resorts and cool attractions.

Whether you arrive in the parish from a cruise ship or by plane, you should familiarize yourself with all the best things to do in Jamaica and Mobay.

So in this article, we’ll take a look at some of the fun and popular activities, and we may even take a look at some unique ones too.

1. Doctor’s Cave Beach

No trip to Jamaica is complete unless you visit a white sandy beach. One of the best private options available is Doctor’s Cave Beach. On any given day you’re likely to find crowds of people sunbathing, relaxing under rented umbrellas or taking a dip in the crystal clear water. The beach is open to the public daily and entry is very cheap at just $6.00 for adults and $3.00 for children. There’s a restaurant and bar also on the property which serves up delicious island drinks and mouth-watering bites. Pack for a full a day of relaxation, chances are you’ll be spending quite a bit of time here.

2. The Rose Hall Great House

If you’re into “spooky stuff” or just want to take a bite into history then may I recommend you visit the Rose Hall Great House? The mansion was once ruled by Annie Palmer who it’s said killed her husband and several slave lovers. Today, it is said she still haunts the mansion and shows up to some guests who are brave enough to take the tour. There are daily tours here both day and night, and it’s a unique experience I encourage everyone to experience themselves.

3. The Zipline Tour

This activity is pretty famous throughout the Caribbean and not just in Jamaica. Guides strap you in securely and set you off to explore your surroundings above the canopy of trees. It’s an exciting thrill you’re encouraged to experience at least once in your lifetime. And what better way to give it a shot than in Jamaica.

4. Rafting on the Martha Brae

Now this attraction isn’t precisely in Montego Bay but in the adjoining parish of Trelawny. Your rafting tour here lasts roughly an hour, and your tour guide will take you on a relaxing raft ride along 3 miles of river. You’ll be able to sit on the hand-crafted rafts and just absorb the beautiful surroundings of lush vegetation. If you’re lucky enough your raft navigator may even let you take control.

5. Take a Dive and Explore the Marine Life

Snorkeling is huge here in Jamaica, at least for many island visitors. At the Montego Bay Marine Park, you’re able to get geared up and explore the water world.

6. Rocklands Bird Sanctuary

This is quite a unique attraction where you get the chance to feed the national bird of Jamaica. The hummingbird otherwise called the doctor bird is a national symbol and visitors to this spot get the opportunity to feed them. It’s an excellent area for beautiful photographs too!

7. Explore the Hip Strip

The hip strip is a long stretch of road lined with resorts, beaches, and cool hang out spots. Tourists walk it daily during their exploration of the resort town and with so much to do, it provides the perfect escape from your hotel for a while. Be sure to stock up on some souvenirs!

This is by no means a complete list. In fact, there’s a few other fun and adventurous activites not included. We’ll update this list very soon and provide more information on the amazing things to do in Montego Bay, Jamaica.
